W&L Soccer faces undefeated teams back to back

The soccer season for Washington & Lee has been a challenging one already.  Many players are being forced to play in unfamiliar territories because of the loss of some teammates for miscellaneous reasons.  The Eagles started off very slow, winning one game while losing six.  Last week, W&L had a rematch against undefeated King William in Montross.  King William previously beat W&L 4-0, scoring all their goals

Montross Middle School Eagles off to fast start

The Montross Middle School Eagles (2-0) are on a roll. On Wednesday, April 6, in Montross, the Eagles offense was in high gear as they defeated the Lancaster Red Devils 12-2.

Cullen Bell picked up the victory, as he allowed only two runs on four hits in three innings of work. Dylan Tyler picked up the save as he shutout Lancaster for the remainder of the game, allowing no hits in two innings of work.

Washington & Lee Eagles high school sports round-up

Varsity Football
The Washington & Lee Eagles made the trip to the Eastern Shore last Friday with one goal in mind: Block. The Eagles have had problems on both sides of the line blocking and penetrating. The Eagles defeated Northampton, 41-0.
The monsoon of rain that hit Virginia last week caused the Eagles to miss two days of critical practice during the week.  However, they faced Northampton on a surprisingly dry field.  The Eagles were lead by Josh Fones, Pip Bankhead and Travis Seager on the offensive side of the ball and Dorian Garnern on the defensive side. Fones, who completed five of six passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, seemed comfortable in his first start.
Seager started the onslaught for the Eagles early in the first quarter catching a pass from Fones that should have been stopped at the line of scrimmage, instead the tight end bulldozed two Northampton defenders for an 18 yard score.
