Midnight Madness mania


On Saturday, the Drifterdome was buzzing with hoopster madness. In celebration of the 18th annual Midnight Madness basketball festival, more than 120 kids from King George, Colonial Beach, Caroline, Maryland and Fredericksburg flooded every corner of the Drifter gymnasium for 12 hours of fun and competition.
The event was sponsored by the Colonial Beach Athletics Department. The Colonial Beach High School Booster Club sold concessions for the event.
Competitors for tournament events were split up into two categories (elementary and high school/college). The following athletes placed first in their chosen disciplines: free throws: Darius Brooks (elementary), Parish Muse (high school); 3-pointers: Cameron Hedley (elementary), Kevin Brooks (high school); knockout: Trey Graham (elementary), Sedrick Smith (high school); hot shot: Darius Brooks (elementary), Mike McGorda (high school); 3-on-3: Kamron Smith, Nick Graves, Cameron Hedley (elementary), Montie Gould, LJ West, LaShaad Thompson, Terry Bushrod (college/high school); 4-on-4: Mikey Mothershead, Anajai Lewis, Ryan Thomas, Michael Chaucey, Deshawn Turner, Andrai Turner (elementary), Dylan Allison, John Farley, Mikey Phillips, Travis Cundiff, Sidney Horton (college/high school).
