Travis Cundiff voted Army Iron Man of the week

After rushing for 151 yards, scoring two touchdowns, and grabbing one interception against Surry High School last week, the U.S. Army Baltimore Recruiting Station announced Colonial Beach running back Travis Cundiff as the “Army Iron Man of the Week,” and the best two-way high school football player in the battalion’s northern Virginia recruiting territory. Cundiff is the sixth player this season to receive this prodigious honor.
The criterion for receiving the iron man award is tough. The player must demonstrate excellence on both ends of the gridiron — offense and defense — as well as strength in character. The Army Iron Man exemplifies the quality of Army strength in every aspect of his performance.

Whether you’re a fan, coach, athletic director or a member of the media, you have until noon each Monday during the regular season to nominate a player for the Army Iron Man of the Week presented by Jostens. High school football fans voted on the winner of the Iron Man award online at www.TheSportsFlash.com.
Drifters vs. Raiders varsity football results
The Drifters pushed their record to 3-3 after defeating Northern Neck Division rival Rappahannock 26-14. Travis Cundiff led the way with 14 carries for 75 yards, including two touchdown receptions. The Drifters amassed 360 totals while the Raiders managed to record 238 yards.
For the season, Cundiff’s current stats rival the top ball carriers in the area. He has 758 yards on 73 carries and 10 touchdowns.
Other Drifters who contributed to the win were: Timmy Jackson (16-yard run) and Dylan Farinet (6-yard run). Farinet completed nine out of 16 passes for 182 yards, including two touchdowns.
This Friday, the Drifters will host the top team in the Northern Neck Division, Essex (5-0, 1-0). Game time is 7 p.m.
