Foxes JV football shifts into fifth gear

Last Wednesday, at Caroline High School stadium, the Foxes junior varsity football team crushed Caroline, 36-7. Throughout the game, the Foxes offensive line opened gaping holes, allowing Rodney Richards to score three touchdowns, after rushing for 133 yard on 21 carries.

Elated that his junior varsity team has made tremendous progress since the start of the season, Foxes head coach George Estes said, “The progress we’ve made throughout the season is teaching these kids our basic football fundamentals. They’ve gotten better each week in practice. Although we’ve stumbled as a coaching staff, and as a team, they keep getting better.”
With their only loss to Courtland (7-0), it appears that the-now-6-1 Foxes could be headed towards a junior varsity championship showdown, as the season comes to an end.
“The kids have rebounded since that earlier loss to Courtland,” Estes said. “The kids are playing as a team—I love a team win.”

Game
After a heated defensive exchange of possessions, the Foxes culminated a 56-yard drive into a 20-yard touchdown by Richards.
On a draw play, on the ensuing 51-yard drive, the Cavaliers responded with a Robert Gerber 15-yard touchdown.  During the second quarter, Gerber’s efforts would be short lived, after marching 53 yards, the Foxes responded with Richards’ second touchdown of the night.
With 3:35 left in the third quarter, Richards scored his third touchdown of the night.
Later, with 13 seconds left in the third quarter, Deandre Reynolds completed a 18-yard touchdown to Antonio Johnson to give the Foxes a 28-7 lead.
The Foxes scored their final touchdown of the evening during an attempted punt, as Jacolby White raced up the field for a 85-yard touchdown.
On Saturday, the Foxes will play their final game of the season, as they host James Monroe. Game time is 10 a.m. Results from the Tuesday night game featuring King George and Culpeper were not available due to press deadlines.
