Armed with an arsenal of speed on both sides of the line, the Rivermen, led by quarterback Gage Ford, moved the first down markers all night long. Ford finished the evening with more than 400 yards total, passing and running. With the victory, the Rivermen have take possession of first place in the MDFL over division rival the Fredericksburg Falcons.

Thanks to the efforts of chiropractic specialist Dr. Shawn Pallotti, the sport of futsal has been revived in King George.
An avid sports enthusiast, Pallotti is a firm believer in commitment. Whether it was his King George Parks & Recreation soccer team that dominated their league for two consecutive seasons with only one loss, or his current push for the development of the Futsal Academy, he is determined to make Futsal a success.
“When I started the Futsal Academy, some prominent people who are knowledgeable about soccer asked me, where are the games?” Pallotti said. “I told them there are not going to be any games, this is futsal. If it’s good enough for the Brazilians for all those years, it should be good enough for us.”

Hot weather isn’t a reason to reduce working toward a Regional Championship and it hasn’t slowed the King George Little League Softball Seniors. The players, and coaches, are taking every bit of available time to practice. The heat has, at times, been oppressive, but the team has worked through the high temperatures.
With the Southern Regionals beginning at month’s end, time is rapidly “melting” away. The team is working on all aspects of the game of softball. Although nothing compares to actual game experience, well-structured practice can help the players reinforce their strengths while allow time to work on weaker areas.
Needless to say, the entire team, players and coaches alike, is delighted to be going to compete at the Southern Region Championships. Everyone has played an entire regular season working hard to make the All-Star Team. But that was just the first step in their exciting journey. The next step was the District 15 Championships. King George drew a bye and took full advantage of that situation. They then defeated both King William and Richmond Counties to clinch a spot in the Regionals as District 15’s No. 1 seed.
The team must now wait to see what teams will make-up the rest of the competition. At that point, the Team Brackets will be established and playing dates assigned. The tentative schedule has play starting on July 30th at the Virginia Sports Complex in Ladysmith, Va.
Watch for final tournament information right here in The Journal. It’s only a short drive to Ladysmith so make plans to come down and cheer for King George as they take on the champions from our neighboring states. Expect to see great softball played because that’s the kind KGLL SRSB delivers.
