VSP Investigate School Bus Crash Town of Montross

At 7:30 a.m., this morning, Virginia State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on Route 3 at the intersection of Opal Lane in the Town of Montross.

The crash occurred when the driver of a Westmoreland County School Bus, #20, was attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Route 3 from Opal Lane and was struck by a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. The driver of the school bus failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign as the Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on Route 3.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Matthew Ingram, 34, of Montross and two passengers, under the age of 8, were all wearing their safety belts and were not injured in the crash.

The driver of the school bus, Teresa Edwards, 50, of Hague, was not injured in the crash and was wearing her safety belt.  Edwards was charged with failure to yield the right of way.

None of the 32 students on board the bus were injured.  The students were loaded onto another bus and transported to school.
