Suspect arrested in double shooting in Westmoreland County

Following a county-wide manhunt executed by the Westmoreland County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police, Jamal T. Brown age 29 of Hague in Westmoreland has been apprehended and is a suspect in the double shooting that took place in the early morning hours of Monday, May 27.

Brown was apprehended in the 1400 block of Flat Iron Road at 5:56 p.m. today, Wednesday May 29.
Westmoreland Sheriff C. O. Balderson said the suspect is still being processed and further details will follow.
The shooting occurred at a residence on Dameron Way in Oldhams.
Police believe the bullets were intended for the adult victim, who was in serious but non-life threatening condition according to reports Monday night. As of Monday the 11 year old was in critical condition but was improving.

Investigating officers told Sheriff Balderson that upon arrival at the scene of the shooting there appeared to be 100 to 150 party goers at the location. The group had gathered for a weekend celebration and said the party was just ending when a suspect, or suspects, shot eight rounds into the car where the two victims where located.
