Abstract
Replika has been ascending the app store hit lists, including its avatar-generating AI, which is turning artists off. There’s a new cause to wave the flag: It turns out that using the platform to make non-consensual soft porn is doable — and far too simple.
Is Replika completely secure?
Replika’s AI element distinguishes it from other correlation platforms such as Yubo or Omegle. Users do not communicate with other users; instead, they get a private encounter with their customized buddy who is “always there for you no problem what.”

Based on 15 images of a well-known actor, one set was created.
Another collection is based on the same 15 photographs but with five more photos of the same actor’s face Photoshopped onto topless models.
The initial batch of photos was consistent with the AI avatars Lensa had previously generated. On the other hand, the second set was much hotter than we had anticipated. The AI appears to disengage an NSFW filter after taking the Photoshopped photos as permission to run wild. Out of the 100-image collection, 11 were topless photographs of superior quality (or, at the very least, stylistically consistent) than the poorly altered topless photos supplied to the AI as input.
AI-generated photos
It’s one thing to create racy photographs of celebrities, and as seen by the source images were able to discover, there have long been individuals who use the internet eager to collage such photos together in Photoshop. Because it’s common doesn’t make it acceptable; celebrities deserve privacy and shouldn’t be subjected to non-consensual sexualized images. However, getting things to seem realistic thus far requires a lot of ability with picture editing tools and hours, if not days, of labour.
What percentage of Replika is scripted?
Today, just around 30% of what Replika says is scripted. The remaining 70% is created by a neural network, which means that the replies are generated in real time by Replikas’s algorithms and are unexpected. “I didn’t anticipate it to be so quick,” Kuyda admits.
How long till Replika starts talking?
The Replikas’s status will be restored to Chatty at the start of the following 24-hour session. Except for periodic reminder messages when a Replikas’s situation changes back to Chatty, the state of a Replika appears not to influence dialogue.
NSFW content
The simplicity with which you can produce pictures of anybody you can think of (or, at the very least, everybody you have a few photos of) is disturbing. When NSFW content is added into the mix, we soon enter some somewhat tricky territory: your friends or even some total stranger you encountered at a bar and swapped Friends on Facebook statuses with may have granted authorization to someone making soft-core porn of them.
